One department shouldn’t answer all of your questions (read between the lines- you will often find enthusiastic employees who want to help but have no idea what they're talking about.)  Colleges divide duties by department for a reason, and that’s because there are so many rules, laws, and nuances specific to your situation that only an expert can provide you the best answer.   In this episode, you'll learn the basics of how each department contributes to your Homeschooling for College Credit program. Who should you call when you have a question? Who can help you with your situation?

Once your teen becomes a dual-enrolled student or enrolled student, you’ll be shut out of the college communication loop entirely.  The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 is a United States federal law that gives your student privacy protection as it relates to their educational records. FERPA intends to prevent your teen’s personal information from being shared with "outside parties" (a good thing) but parents are often shocked to learn that “outside parties” include legally homeschooling parents!  This episode gives you 4 tips to work around FERPA so you can get what you need without hitting a brick wall.

Earning college credit in high school is the typical goal of a Homeschooling for College Credit family. Still, when students target prestigious and selective universities, they are often disappointed to learn their dual enrollment won't count.  In this episode, we'll talk about how you can find the best dual enrollment programs for college credit when your focus is on admissions instead of earning college credit.

Does your teen even need a high school diploma if they have a lot of college credit? Granting your teen a diploma isn't just a technicality; it's a BIG DEAL for college enrollment, and only high school graduates (or GED) can enroll in college and get financial aid.

High school, for me, was the scariest aspect of homeschooling. For the first time, I felt like someone else, someone significant, would get to evaluate my ability to run our homeschool. "College Admissions" would decide my teen's future based on whether or not I did an adequate job for the past 17 years. The worst part was that there would be no do-over if I messed up.
